What is wearable
Wearable refers to the set of appliances and electronic devices that are incorporated in any part of our body continuously interacting with the user and with other devices in order to perform a specific function, smartwatches, sports shoes with built-in GPS and bracelets that monitor our health are examples among others of its kind technology that is increasingly present in our lives.
Under this conception the computer stops being a stranger to the user device which used it in a space defined, becoming an element incorporated and constantly interacts with the user in addition to accompany him everywhere.
As stated above the wearable technology refers to all products that incorporate a microprocessor and we use daily form part of us, within this definition does not consider wearable our television lounge, the kitchen coffee or ebook that we use to read our books, since whether electronic devices having microprocessors and use every day are not part of us because they are not "wearable”, but lenses, glasses, bracelets, watches, clothing are wearable products which if we add one or more electronic microprocessors get wearables products.
We can date the origins of wearable technology in the 1970s, but it was not until the 2010s when the technology has evolved enough to attract a wide range of consumers. The wearable technology is presented in a wide range of sectors that satisfy our needs and desires in order to improve our quality of life by improving eg the health of patients, the safety of persons exposed to risks at work daily or training of athletes preparing for a competition. From accessories and fashion complements like watches, rings and bracelets that turn on when identify your fingerprint, these digital accessories store all the information about your lifestyle as the miles you walk during the day, heart rate, sleep cycles, etc... can also interact with other electronic devices with wireless technology these wearables can open the doors of your house, start the engine of your car, pay for your purchases without removing credit card, loading and unloading all types of files like documents, images, video... all with a single flick of the wrist.
The safety of workers will increase thanks to the wearable technology, for example fire helmets currently exist that monitor oxygen levels and temperature that supports the fireman during extinguishing fire works, in addition to carrying embedded GPS locator which allows to know at any time the exact point where you are.
The textile sector has also succumbed to this new form of wearable technology, children's garments indicating and send a signal to your Smartphone when your baby has a fever, sportswear that helps you make the right moves while learning to play golf, t-shirts with leds that will light up in the dark streets while doing running while the mileage accounts, heart rate, calories burned and performance along every day you practice sport.
In the fashion industry wearable technology has allowed the development of dresses that shrink or lengthen changing the shape and style that you do not change your costume lack when you leave a meeting to attend a party, dresses that change color and incorporating small solar panels that store solar energy as you walk down the street so you never run out of battery on your Smartphone...
Furthermore progress in this field of wearables is allowing the development of new devices that are implanted within the body of the user, under this philosophy are developing sensors that monitor the amount of glucose in a patient with diabetes such that one electronic dispenser inject the amount of insulin needed, also the same sensor take data relevant to the health of patient which are sent by Internet to the computers, tablets, Smartphones or electronic devices of the medical team.
The future of technology goes through this new conception of computers that accompanies us everywhere, in the near future we will see how mobile phones are implanted in our ears, robotic exoskeletons provide jobs that we previously produced large labor and hardship, our body are continuously connected to sensors that will take data on our health and fitness. No doubt the wearable technology has come to stay with us.
